Live in the streets
Last Friday Shire played an extremely intense concert in front of the Chinese embassy, and a dedicated group of demonstrators, to demand human rights and freedom of speech in Tibet. For the first time, we really felt that our song was delivered to the people it was written for: The Tibetans, their supporters and of course the chinese people behind the curtains, who repayed for the song by sending complains to the police. We managed to play four song, before the chief policeman shut us down, who (by the way) was very polite, but took his job very seriously.

This is a day we'll never forget, and we send all our thanks to Tibetkomite who invited us.

New Official Single Release!
We have been in the studio this summer, re-recording "The Identity Beneath Every Tyranny".

The band went to The Farm in Davinde, where studioowner Peter Sund produced the record, making the song a perfect candidate for a hitsingle this fall. The single will be released to radiostations all over the country today, in good time for the opening ceromony of the Olympic Games. The single is mastered by Søren Mikkelsen at Medley Studios, Copenhagen.

We are very pleased with the result, and hope this song will help keep awareness on the tibetan conflict and human rights issues all over the world.

Busy Bee - Busy Bee!
We are still overwhelmed by the pile of emails, comments, telephone calls and responses we got regarding our newest song: 'The Identity Beneath Every Tyranny'. Most of the responses are extremely positive, and some of them are from the far opposite spectrum. Believe it or not, but there are quite outspoken characters whom don't agree with us, that Tibet should be free and independent.

We are naturally very happy that we can contribute to the cause with our song, and that people are able to find some comfort and strength in the songs message, but we are also glad that it has helped us reach listeners world wide these past two weeks.

We've been interviewed for TV2-Fyn and been on the front page of a local newspaper. This makes us confident, that we are doing something right with this song.

Within the next month, Shire will be playing Live on DR P4 (National Danish Radio), and will perform at "Jelling Musikfestival" - the third largest music festival in Denmark. The radio show will be on may 22. at 5:10 pm and the doors are open for everyone, so please join us and let's make a party out of it. The Jelling-gig is on June 1. at 8:25 pm and tickets for the whole festival or just one day, can be bought online through BilletNet.

We've been very busy these past two weeks, working hard on the next song for the new album, with the working title "Releasing Bubbles".
"The Identity Beneath Every Tyranny" is our humble contribution to the struggle for a free Tibet. This struggle is not over until Tibet is totally independent and free, as any nation should be, as all mankind should be. Shire finds it extremely important to keep every-one's attention to what's going on in the world, and especially the atrocities happening in Tibet right now. This song is for Tibet, but could might as well have been about Burma. Don't forget!

Listen to the song here.
Watch the video here.

Watch it, listen to it and please vote for it, digg it, mail links to your friends - and do whatever you can to spread the message that people are oppressed against their free will.

Shire are in the midst of making and recording a new album. As the songs emerge, we will publish the songs, free of charge. By now, you'll be able to hear four new songs under the album name "Releasing Bubbles". This is a working title, and may possibly change in the future, when more songs gets finished, and find their way to the web. We hope you'll enjoy both the new material and the old. If you like what you hear, please tell everyone you know about it!

A brand new website, and this time around, it is in English:-)

Shire have spend a few years making and recording music in our native tongue, danish. Now it's time for songs with an international appeal again. We are taking this step out of commercial reasons, to be honest with you. Though the band are aware that something inevitably will get lost in translation, so to speak, the band also feels that there are some really great things to gain by this switch. We are all born and raised in Denmark, but we look at ourselves as citizens of the world. It is time for Shire to acknowledge this fact, by making music for a greater audience to hear. Shire's music doesn't match with popular and radio friendly music in Denmark anyway, thus making it hard for us to reach people. We most sincerely hope, that all our foreign fans will welcome this change, and we are already looking forward to hear from you all, and maybe even see you soon, on the road.
